Hello friends,
Here’s an idea for practicing scales and also work on rhythmic modulations at the same time.
Take a 2 octaves G major scale (15 notes)
G A B C D E F# G A B C D E F# G
Metronome at 60bpm.
Let’s Start by playing the scale in eight notes, from the lower G to the higher, and back. Twice
Next, without stopping, let’s play the scale in triplets for 3 times (3 “round trips”).
Finally, let’s play it in sixteen notes for 4 times.
The idea is to keep the flow without stopping!
Like that:
Eight notes (2 times) / triplets (3 times) / sixteen notes (4 times)
Here’s the chart of the exercise, that you can also use as a play-along. 🎹
Enjoy! And keep practicing. Step after step.
NB: We can also bring the exercise further by adding quintuplets, sextuplets, etc.
Like that:
Eight notes / triplets (3 times) / sixteen notes / quintuplets sextuplets, etc.

That's exactly the way i do this, it seems good to me, too, to have a fixed slow metronome tempo like 60. And the vary the playing tempo. Quintuples are always a challenge :-)
